The Tutorial section of Jazz Tutor is made up of
over 130 individual lessons. This course of study, which
could take anywhere from
one to four years to complete, is presented
in a structured and linear form, complete with narration, helpful
hints, guidance, and progress reports.
Each lesson is presented with an associated example or exercise, where the tempo of the music can be adjusted without changing the pitch. This enables the student to start off slowly, and work up to speed at his/her own pace. The music that scrolls on the screen can also be adjusted for the student who likes to read ahead, and is presented a choice of accompaniment.
There is a section on Basic Skills that presents over
50 lessons designed to teach all the chord, scale, and melodic
structure that the jazz student will ever need. There are also
sections based on in-depth analysis of the music and solo improvisations
of Jazz Tutor's five original recordings by Phil Woods
and The Phil Woods Quintet.
And there's still even more!
